Because we are a worldwide company, it simply makes sense that we become interested in global issues and international concerns. In reality, our efforts are just a small piece of the global community initiative. With employees in more than 110 countries, we as a company should be more cognizant of global issues that affect the daily lives of our customers – internally and externally. About GBC To incorporate our initiatives into a business response, Brink’s joined the Global Business Coalition ( GBC) on HIV/ AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria which is the leading comprehensive business fight against these deadly diseases. More than 220 global companies are members of the GBC, representing a combined workforce of approximately 11 million employees in more than 200 countries. Their goal is to increase the range and quality of private sector programs to address AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria in the workplace and in the broader community. GBC identifies new opportunities for business action and helps companies develop programs that address the three diseases. Also, GBC encourages and facilitates partnerships between business and governments, the international community and the non- governmental sector. How Brink’s Assists In advocating for greater business action on AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria, GBC, in conjunction with Brink’s, believes that business and business leaders can respond in four main ways. They are: • Create comprehensive workplace policies and programs addressing prevention, testing, treatment and care for employees and immediate communities. • Support community programs through philanthropy and the application of business’ strengths of innovation and efficiency: businesses’ marketing, communication, distribution and logistics skills are already strengthening the impact of many programs around the world. • Leverage core competencies – such as products and services – in unique ways to benefit the fight against HIV/ AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. • Lead and advocate, lobbying for greater action and partnerships with governments and civil society. As members of GBC, Brink’s understands and identifies these important issues and attribute to the benefits of the customers we serve. Our company- wide integrity assists not only our direct customers, but our indirect customers we call the world. Leading the Business Fight Chairman Message |
